Simple Beef Pot Pie

A simple beef version of the classic pot pie. A true comfort food that will feed the whole family!

Prep Time : 15 minutes
Bake Time : 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Five Marys top round or sirloin steak, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2-3 medium sized carrots, diced
  • 1 1/2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 rounded tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon beef bouillon
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the diced steak and onion in the butter over medium to medium-high heat. 
  3. Add the carrots and mushrooms.
  4. Cook until the mushrooms are tender.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over veggies and cook until the flour is dissolved.
  6. Add the beef stock and bouillon, then stir until slightly thickened.
  7. Taste for seasoning.
  8. Scoop the mixture into a baking tray slightly smaller than 9×13 inches.
  9. Lay a sheet of thawed puff pastry over top.
  10. Brush the beaten egg over the pastry, and bake uncovered roughly 30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
