It’s that time of year around here… preparing their steers for the fair! The girls are each raising a black angus steer they choose from our herd to take to the Junior Livestock Auction for their 4H project. They have to work with these steers to go from rogue livestock to tame and controlled steers who they can walk on a halter and “fit” or bathe and brush to meet certain standards for a livestock judge. The girls have to work with them everyday all summer and then take them into the ring at the county fair for judging and to sell to a buyer for harvest.
