I love to entertain. It’s something I learned from both of my parents and grandparents – cooking great food, setting a pretty table and greeting guests for an evening of fun with a cocktail or cold beer at the door.

We love living in our little house for the six of us. It’s kind of a sanctuary space for gathering at night around the woodstove and ending long but full days together. We realized soon after moving into it that we didn’t want to give that up anytime soon… but we still wanted spaces to entertain guests, share our life on the ranch and have friends and family for dinners and overnights.

To let us do both – we expanded our living spaces all over the ranch. We built Camp Five Marys on the hill with the best views and pulled together a grilling and eating space by the girls’ roping arena and opened the doors of our restaurant and bar at Five Marys Burgerhouse.

It’s the best of both worlds to live small… and entertain big! We get to share our ranch raised meats and the beauty of our ranch with others but still have our family space to go home to.

We put up the tents at camp today and tidied up the arena and are refreshing the restaurant with new outdoor areas to welcome the warm weather and get ready for friends and family and my second cookbook shoot and everything the summer season brings.

I’m ready for it!
