Jan 12/2023. Ended the night with a hard earned date night after a full day working and then a two-hour taxes and P&L reviewing session together. š Started the day with Maisie and Gilly on the ranch getting chores done and then a monumental morning harvesting two beef on the ranch in our new barn and trailer facility! Wow after so many years this felt huge. These were ranch harvests for family pile only, but we are working our way into USDA certified harvests for our own program. It will really be incredible to be able to do this! We caught up on inventory and box making in my shop and then did a little office refresh! Francie and Maisie used to do school in a fun little basement nook, but it kinda flooded and they like working with us upstairs soā¦ new set ups! Iāll post finals tomorrow but here are a few sneaks (boot project preview too!) Also my goddaughter shared the big baby need so I get to share her nameā¦ Mia Elise Rodriguez!!! š on my momās side we have a fun generational trend goingā¦ my mom was 13 when her baby sister Mary Elise or Mimi was born, Mimi was 16 when I (Mary Regan) was born, I was 14 when Mimiās oldest Claire Elise was born (and got to be her godmother!!), Claire was 16 when my Mary Frances was born and Francie is 15 when her Mia Elise is born! It blurs the lines of aunts/nieces/cousins and we love it that way. ā„ļø More pedicures and face masks and @carhartt onesies to round out a cozy night at home! #m5yearinphotos #january2023 #m5january2023

Jan 11/2023. Enjoyed a slow morning at my parentsā having breakfast and catching up on emails and payroll. Loaded up returned boxes from customers who drop them off on their porch so we can reuse the expensive insulated liners and boxes (thank you!) and hit the road at noon. My windshield wipers didnāt stop for 4.5 hours of downpour driving but made it home safely to meet my crew at the Burgerhouse for family dinner. I missed them! They wanted to hear all about the baby and then walked me into a VERY clean house with all of Christmas put away inside and out, the kitchen spotless and the hoodies and jacket wall COLOR COORDINATED. š These girls know the way to my heart. (also the portrait of Brianās early Californian farming ancestors a lot of you asked to see up close! The Caspar Borchard family on his Dadās side.) They were also excited I brought home the rest of the Christmas presents we hadnāt had room to bring along like the fancy nail kit Maisie got JJ. They went right to work. š It was such a fun trip home to spend time with my parents. Brian has always encouraged me to make time for that by myselfā¦ so that we model the same thing for our girls to hopefully come home for some 1-on-1 time with US even when they have their own families. ā„ļø #m5yearinphotos #january2023 #m5january2023

Jan 10/2023. Slept a few hours in between baby updates and woke up at 4:59am to hear my Aunt Mimi yelling up āItās a girl!ā so happy for a healthy baby! Claire & Stevie rested most of the day so I got to visit with friends, get a mani-pedi to cover my bruised fingers, and see my good friend Marisaās new store she just opened in downtown Palo Alto. Itās beautiful and I found a few treasures! I also got to go shop Baby Gap for all the cute girl clothes since the baby was a surprise! I missed those days of baby clothes shopping. I drove by our old house – the house Brian had bought right before I met him and we fixed up together and brought our first two babies home to. The owners were out front and insisted I come in for a tour!! Theyāve expanded the 980 sq feet and are remodeling the kitchen but it still felt like that same special house we started our family in. Ended the night with games and champagne with my parents and aunt Mimi and uncle Andy (proud new grandparents!) AND a text from Brian that the calf I had to stab in the pasture that was pretty much dead is alive and well and thriving on the hill. It was a good day! #m5dayinthelife #january2023 #m5january2023

Jan 9/2023. Started with a busy Monday shipping orders thanks to our hard working shop team getting 490 orders on trucks! (Photos in reverse order) Had lunch with Francie and Maisie and they did school work and reorganized their study since in my office then picked up JJ and Tess from school to hear all the funny stories from elementary and junior high days. Oh there are some good ones! Last minute made the decision to jump in my car and drive down south to my parents (6 hours) because my goddaughter/cousin Claire Elise (also my mother in laws name, same spelling) is in labor with her first baby! Made it to the familiar sights of home by 9:15pm. Surprised the heck out of them walking in unannounced! DoorDash sushi waiting for me and Grampery popped the champagne. Sat up with my aunt Mimi and uncle Andy (Claireās parents/Jannieās baby sister) until 2am talking and getting baby updates. Itās a surprise so āitās a girl!ā AND āitās a boy!ā stickers for the Seeās candy sucker are awaiting the news as we all are. Going to bed with prayers for a speedy and healthy delivery for Claire and Stevie very soon! šš

Jan 8/2023. Last day of the rodeo. A few more runs and great catch in breakaway by Maisie. Untacking and packing up the trailer to hit the road home. Four sleeping girls for the 2.5 hour drive and Heff and I got windshield time to catch up and plan for the week ahead. Nice to see Shasta Lake so full from all this rain and nothing better than cresting the mountain to our beautiful little valley. Home to lots of laundry, muddy boots and a yummy Five Marys Italian Sausage pasta before everyone fell asleep dog tired but very thankful! #m5yearinphotos #january2023 #m5january23 #m5rodeo

Jan 7/2023. A big day of rodeo started at 7:30am with Grand Entry in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness and events right after. Lots of highs and lows. Maisie won the Breakaway Roping with a 3.4 second catch. Gilly enjoyed being the mascot of the little sister club and even let JJ hold her (she doesnāt always love JJ energy š¤£). With three districts here from California, we had double the number of contestants and competition lasted until almost midnight. Good friends, tired kids, tired parents, happy full day of family rodeoing fun. ā„ļø

Jan 6/2023. A fun first day at their district rodeo! Highs and lows of competition and lots of memories made with friendsā¦ for all of us! The kids hosted a play day mock rodeo for local kids with special needs in the morning. Then ran barrels, ribbon roping and goat tying. Ended the night around the campfires and the rain held off until we were tucked cozy in our trailer! #m5yearinphotos #m5rodeo

Proud of Maisie today! Mostly because I caught her happy, accomplished smile in a photo (she doesnāt let me take her picture very often!) but she worked hard today! She had a beautiful, smoking fast barrel run on her new mare Tater – besides a pesky barrel tipping over for a 5 second penalty it was a 14.731 second run (her friend Jordyn won it with a 14.870 out of 71 junior high girls!) š And she caught her calf in Ribbon Roping for 4th place with her partner Jack on old faithful Rooster (pictured). She got off and said ānot catching that calf was NOT an option today!ā It was fast and squirrelly and she adjusted her swing and powered her throw to make it happen. These arenāt the biggest or most impressive wins but they are the ones sheās working hard on and that smile says it all. @m5rodeo #m5marymarjorie @maisieheffernan

Jan 5/2023. A rainy morning on the ranch. Gathered all our old worn out boots Iāve been saving for 10 years to do a fun little project in my shop. (Some have already been passed down and resoled – lots of memories in these boots!) Maisie made pancakes for her sisters for breakfast. We were all scrambling to get things wrapped up on the ranch for our faithful caretaking team to take over for the weekend so we can rodeo. Neighbor Tim sent me a photo from their arena on the other side of the river showing a vivid rainbow ending smack dab in our arena (with his flip phone!) Rainy drive to Red Bluff but so nice to see Shasta Lake more full than itās been in a long time. Mexican restaurant for dinner with lots of rodeo friends and Oma. Campfire outside the trailers enjoying company until midnight. š„ And made me smile to get a sweet text from Miles mom @weekleyj in the beautiful hat @ojannie thoughtfully knit for her. Always remembering Miles. š« #m5yearinphotos #january2023 #m5jan523

Jan 4/2023. The 2022 puppies that joined the family (Milo a Great Pyr/Newfie and Gilly the long haired Dachshund) are the biggest and littlest weāve ever had! Expected and prepared for a very rainy day today but only got lots of swirly strong wind. I helped Brian feed on the hill in conquered my fear the feed truck was going to flip over in the slip-sliding mud (it wasnāt). Hauled blanketed horses for one more roping practice before a district rodeo this weekend – girls are excited to compete. Ended the day grabbing a cold beer at the restaurant to sit by the fire and finishing chores (francie) in the soggy wet rain. #m5yearinphotos #january2023
