We all feel pretty lucky we got to be a part of the California State Finals Rodeo with Francie!! She had a fantastic first performance barrel race with a 17.80 seconds putting her 12th in the first go round. The second performance wasnt what she hoped for with two barrels down but thats the way rodeo goes! We spent all week in beautiful Bishop CA with rodeo families from our district and all over the state. We ate well at trailer camp and made more of great memories! Last night these rodeo kids got all dolled up for RODEO PROM in sequins and dresses under those district vests a beautiful group of ladies inside and out genuine friends who root for their team mates even when they compete against each other and the biggest hearts. They look gorgeous in sequins but watch out when these gals get back into their boots and belt buckles they are fierce in the saddle! #m5rodeo #bishopca #statefinals #m5statefinalsrodeo #rodeogirls4ever

Maisie graduated from 8th grade! She did a non-traditional program this year through our school district options program and had the flexibility to do classes at home or on the road while she traveled for rodeos worked with her horses and helped out on the ranch. She and Francie had a really nice year working together on school horses and lunch dates. But Maisie still got to participate with her class and graduate last week with her classmates! Congrats Maisie!

We had a beautiful evening at California Peony Company celebrating the last official day of their first harvest season! We popped the new Five Marys rosè we are releasing with @passalacquawinery and the skies showered us with sunshine, rainstorms and then a beautiful sunset. The girls helped make a beautiful grazing board and it was a night full of good friends and great accomplishments for @californiapeonycompany!

Francie has been working with her young horse Rocket every evening to train him up for rodeo events. He’s a 5 year old who came from a reigning barn but has it in him to be a great rodeo horse with some training. It’s been a lot of ups and downs for her – getting frustrated sometimes and having to learn herself how to train a young horse – but also being so proud of Rocket as he’s picking up the patterns and skills pretty quickly. I think these two make a pretty beautiful pair! ✨

We have been working together this week with a crew from Food52 to launch our new partnership bringing to life some new ranch life recipe episodes for you! The girls have all been so helpful cooking with me – and Brian has been the best at telling the story of what we do, why we do it and how quality and consistency are what we strive for every day for our customers. Sometimes we get wrapped up in the day-to-day and fixing all the things, but opportunities like this are pretty special to get us to take a step back and share what we’ve worked hard to build here for our family, our livestock and our customers. ♥️

Introducing the Five Marys BOGS boot designed by Francie, Maisie, JJ & Tessa! The girls have spent the past six months designing a western inspired but fun and playful M5 boot in adult sizes (since most tweens and teens are adult sizes these days and let’s be honest, I’m absolutely wearing these too!) The Bogs team came to the ranch this week to reveal the boot after lots of inspiration boards and design iterations back and forth. The girls were so excited!! The boots will be available nationwide this fall…. I’ll be sure to keep you posted and we’ll do a fun giveaway too! #fivemarysXbogs @bogsfootwear #m5boots

Francie made her Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend! How cute are she and her good friend Bailey… seven years later ☺️ She chose Wendy as her sponsor – Wendy is like Francie’s coach, mentor, therapist and second mom for all things horses and rodeo (she sold Francie her beloved Redman) and is the best supporter and counselor! She and her husband Bob have been around rodeo their whole lives, team rope together and are so good to Francie. Wendy had some great life advice and gifted Francie a beautiful leather bible with her name embossed on it along with some wonderful life advice. Confirmation only happens in our small town every 3-4 years so all the high schoolers were confirmed (7 Catholics!) and our Vicar came from the Bishop’s office for the Mass. Maisie and JJ were still rodeoing so Francie and I drove home early that morning and Oma joined us for the special day. Francie chose the saint’s name Clare to honor her Oma too. We had a nice reception at the parish hall with strawberry cake and then a fun lunch at the Burgerhouse. Congrats Francie!

State Finals are underway! These girls qualified as the top 5 in our district and are competing over the next few days against competitors from all over the state of California. The friendships forged through rodeo are something special. Go D1! ✨
