I am SO excited to share about a special project with Can-Am Off-Road that launched this week! We are the first episode in their new series featuring stories from people working hard and “LIVIN’ THE LAND.”
The Can-Am brand is hands-down our favorite for dependable, powerful, useful, all-terrain vehicles (we’ve tried them all!) and it was so fun to share our story and how we use them on a daily and nightly basis around the ranch.
I have the Defender with the full cab (& heaters!) and Brian only drives it when I make him or when he wants me to do morning chores with him in the winter. He has the less-amenitized model and loves it for easy jumping in and out to get gates and do his job.
We had a busy four days with the Can-Am crew here on the ranch to shoot a story about Five Marys! We started early every morning and kept shooting until well after dark. The team of three guys were super laid back and fit right in around here. We had sunny days the first few days and some weather moving in at the end, so they caught all sorts of seasons.
We got footage of just about everything possible. From the ranch to the restaurant to the farm store to the roping arena to camp! It was a long few days, but the video is just SO INCREDIBLE it was all sooo worth it.
On Day 1 of shooting, we made it up to the top of the mountain early in the morning when it was still dark to catch the sunrise. I’m usually not up that early (Brian takes the dark-thirty chores everyday!) but, it was pretty gorgeous to watch the sunrise with 360 degree views of the mountains and the valley. I might even admit it was worth getting up before 5 AM… but, I won’t tell Brian that.
The girls were such troopers with lots of cameras all week, but they made fast friends with the crew, gave them all Five Marys nicknames (a camera crew tradition now!) and thought it was THE COOLEST THING EVER that their next stop was hanging out to film Dale Brisby at the PBR finals! Dale and his Ranch Kitty are their favorite celebrities ever.
Brian and I had so much fun together filming the episode – and yes, my favorite part was when they interviewed him alone and he said all those nice things about working with his wife!
It’s not always easy to work alongside each other all day, everyday. We care for our livestock together from sunup to sundown. We care for our children and support their interests. We prepare meals together. We work on new projects and dream big dreams together. We even do paperwork and taxes together! But, somehow he makes it fun everyday.
We have a lunch date together most days at the restaurant and chore beers together to finish our day and it still feels like we sneak these in as dates. I’m so lucky to be married to him. He makes me a better person, mom, business owner, and wife too.
I think Can-Am’s film really captures the essence of our life together on the ranch… and I can’t get over just how AMAZING the footage is!

It was fun seeing all aspects of your ranch life even for me who has been following along ever since you introduced me to Instagram. As always it is professional, clear and easy to navigate, which is saying something for me with my low tech skills. We miss you guys and have just completed our shots. We hope to see you all soon. I just bought more cookbooks and sent them to my siblings. I can’t wait for volume 2.

Loved watching the Can-Am feature & your stories of the filming. You all work together so naturally. I’m betting Brian scored some brownie points on his interview.😉
It was so great that the crew sent the girls a video from Dale Brisby with his M5 hat!!
Love this! ❤️
