The Future of Ethical Meat
Yesterday, Brian and I were struggling with a few delayed timelines on the butchery build, a broken pivot gate, and the usual ranching issues that are inevitable but make things hard… nothing is easy when you do things the right way! But then I saw this article from Modern Farmer when I opened up my email at the butchery plant and I ran to show Brian. I think we both got a little teary eyed at the validation that doing things the hard way pays off. Click here to read the full article!

The term ethical meat is a buzz word, as the article points out, and not really defined. I’d argue every rancher who raises livestock themselves, with boots on the ground out there caring for their animals, will always make the most ‘ethical’ choices for their livestock and their land. It’s our job and our livelihood to take the best care we can of both.
When you get to raise the animals all the way to a premium final product like we do, and you care about the quality, honesty, and transparency for your customers – knowing this meat goes to their table to feed their family just like ours – that’s when you find a mutual trust between rancher and customer.

I believe it’s trust that is the most important thing when sourcing your meat. It is the only way to know exactly what you are buying – knowing it was raised right for the animals, the land, and ultimately – you.
We have a long list of other farms and ranches we know and trust though my M5 Entrepreneurs program at www.m5friends.com – if you are looking for a meat source anywhere in the US or Canada that you can get to know and trust, I’d love for you to check out and support any of these farms and ranches working hard to do things the right way!
