As you can see from the photo above, Brian’s Carhartt coat is WELL WORN! Brian has newer Carhartt gear, but this one has been his old faithful. He doesn’t want to trade it in – this coat (aptly named the ‘Chore Coat’) has seen him through some hard days, frosty mornings, and evening chores long after dark.
But, I think it might be time to patch those pockets for him!
Here are his other favorite Carhartt go-to’s… I couldn’t get him to stop working long enough to take photos of him in all of them so some are Carhartt photos – but these are really all of his go-to layers!
Flannel Sherpa-Lined Plaid Shirt Jac
Brian has a few of these shirt jacs, because he gets SO much use out of them.
Since it’s sherpa lined, it’s super warm while also having the durability of a classic Carhartt work shirt.
He’ll wear it alone or layer it underneath his chore coat in the winter. As you can see – a great shirt to wear around the campfire 🙂

Gilliam Jacket
This Gilliam Jacket has quickly become a major go-to for Brian. He has it in the color ‘copper,’ which I love. As you can see, he layers this one under his chore coat too!
It’s an insulated and quilted jacket, so it’s very warm, but without all the bulk of a heavy winter coat.
Perfect to throw on for some chore beers!

THE CLASSIC Chore Coat
HERE IT IS! This is a true Carhartt classic. Brian gets SO MUCH use out of his chore coat around the ranch.
It’s a heavyweight coat with a blanket-lined inside that is water-repellent, wind-resistant, and WARM.
As I mentioned above, Brian still holds onto his original chore coat because it has seen him through so many hard-working days and nights on the ranch throughout the years.
AND a matching chore coat for your hard working dogs!
Beau and Bitsy sport the bright orange hunting coat, Annie May has the classic Carhartt brown, and you’ll find Dixie in the camo AND army green!

Waterproof Breathable Knit Cuff Work Glove
We’re a big fan of the Carhartt gloves – we have several different pairs around the ranch and also in the shop when we ship our boxes and are running in and out of the freezer all day!
Brian loves these knit cuff work gloves for pretty much any ranch work.
From wood stacking to handling hay in the snow or sleet – these are the gloves Brian reaches for first.

Acrylic Watch Hat
Carhartt beanies are pretty iconic and it’s no coincidence that you can find just about anyone wearing one now-a-days!
They are a workwear essential and since it’s gotten cold here in northern California, the thick yarn they use makes them a staple hat for Brian (& ALL the rest of us!)
From branding to beers! 😉
We love Carhartt beanies so much that we decided we needed our own M5 version!
We have them available in bright hunter orange, heathered maroon and navy, classic carhartt brown, and black.

THE CARHARTT Apron
This apron is really nice because it is made out of the same cotton duck that Carhartt jackets are known for. It has tons of pockets which is always great and crisscross strap ties for a custom fit.
Dalton Full-Zip Fleece Jacket & Dalton Half-Zip
You’ll find Brian wearing this fleece most days in the fall and winter. It’s similar to the Gilliam Jacket in that it keeps him warm, but it’s thin enough to layer under a thicker coat if he needs a heavy extra layer.
There are a few zippered pockets which is always a plus for keeping odds and ends in place while riding out in the pastures for chores.

Brian likes the full-zip fleece so much that he has it in the half-zip version too!

Carhartt Force Long-Sleeve Quarter-Zip Pocket T-Shirt
This quarter zip is such a great find – Brian almost always wears this as a layer underneath a hoodie.
It’s sweat-wicking and dries fast, which is important when you’re working up a sweat multiple times throughout the day.

Carhartt Yukon Extremes Wind Fighter Fleece Active Jac
Carhartt has a ‘Yukon Extreme’ line that is the warmest, most durable gear that they make.
It’s specifically engineered for working in freezing temperatures – which is EXACTLY what Brian likes about it during his 4AM wake up time. This jacket is men’s but Mary loves it too!

Workwear Pocket T-Shirt [Original Fit]
This is Carhartt’s most popular T-shirt – and for good reason. It feels much thicker than your average cotton T-shirt, and it definitely withstands a whole lot more. It comes in lots of different colors and Brian appreciates the extra pocket feature in the front.

Rain Defender Paxton Hooded Heavyweight Sweatshirt
If you’ve never worn a Carhartt hoodie before – they are so comfy and much thicker than your average sweatshirt too. Brian wears this one a lot underneath his chore coat… do you notice a theme here? 😉 He enjoys that it’s water-repellent so he isn’t wet and cold at the end of chores on a misty day.

Shoreline Waterproof Breathable Jacket
I wrote about the Shoreline jacket in my ‘Carhartt 2020 Fall Favorites’ blog post – and Brian is equally on board with this one in the men’s version. It’s fully waterproof, layers great over a hoodie, and truly made to last.
The best part – if you’re out and forgot gloves, the inner cuffs pull over your hands for extra coverage.

Insulated Shoreline Pant
Just like the Shoreline jacket, these pants are SO great for outdoor work on cold, wet days.
Brian layers his over jeans since they are fully waterproof AND warm with a quilted lining.
Another helpful feature – they have a double layer at the knees so they don’t wear out during physical labor. You really can’t go wrong with these ones!
😊
